Neighbors Working Together: Our 2026 Cleanup Recap

Our 2026 Spring and Fall Dumpster Days collected approximately 95 tons of waste, helping neighbors clear out bulky items and keep our community clean. Recycling efforts collected five to six containers of metal and appliances in the spring, 3,200 cubic feet of metal in the fall, and a full trailer of electronics in the spring.

Usable goods were also saved for resale, including 600 cubic feet of items in the fall, along with spring thrift donations. These results were made possible through the partnership of the Joslyn Castle and Gifford Park Neighborhood Associations and the generosity of our volunteers, donors, and neighbors.

Fall Dumpster Day: October 10, 2026

Our fall cleanup was a success, even with a somewhat slower pace. We collected approximately 35 tons of waste for the landfill, recycled 3,200 cubic feet of metal, and reclaimed 600 cubic feet of usable goods for resale.

A special thank-you goes to Jesse Barnes Jr. and Sr., who brought a hardworking crew that did an outstanding job handling metal recycling. They were among the best metal recycling crews we’ve had, and we would gladly welcome them back for our next cleanup. Plenty of snacks and water kept volunteers going, thanks in part to generous donations.

Spring Dumpster Day: April 18, 2026

Held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Duchesne Academy parking lot at North 36th and California Streets, our spring cleanup accepted bulky waste, appliances, metal, and lead-acid batteries.

The day’s collections included:

  • Nearly four packer trucks of waste, totaling approximately 60 tons.

  • Five to six containers of metal and appliances.

  • A full trailer of electronics.

  • Usable goods donated for thrift resale.

Thank You, Neighbors!

Thank you to everyone who unloaded vehicles, sorted materials, provided refreshments, donated goods, and helped keep both events running smoothly. Your time and teamwork helped neighbors dispose of unwanted items, recycle valuable materials, and give useful goods a second life.
